Bug season is approaching, so sharing my essential oils recipes: Remember that essential oils are very strong and should never be used full strength on the skin. In addition, use essential oils sparingly, on children, and understand that children skin is far more sensitive than adults. Not all essential oils an be applied to small children or pets. Ex… never use eucalyptus, rosemary, or clove oils on small children or pets/its known cause of respiratory failure. So very very important to understand the strength of essential oils on all age creatures and age groups.

On dogs: Dogs should be thought of like babies when it comes to essential oils and the amount to use. Not only do they have sensitive noses but they also have smaller organs than we do. Some of the essential oils you can safely use on dogs for flea and tick prevention are: lavender, lemon, citronella, sage/clary sage, bergamot, cedarwood, lemon eucalyptus, lemongrass, peppermint, geranium, sweet orange, and rosemary. Remember to use sparingly and diluted.
Note: Not all essential oils are made the same. Always purchase essential oils from companies that are known to use proper extraction techniques (low temp and low pressure) that they are 100% pure and as organic as possible, with no additives, and the plants are produced from plants that are grown in their indigenous location, and that the plants are wild crafted. And one more note; if the plant is not organic, but wild crafted, this plant is just as good if not better than organic.
